Gold steadies in Asian trade


















SINGAPORE(BullionStreet): Gold remained steady in Asian trade Tuesday after euro zone ministers and the IMF agreed on a bailout deal for Greece.
Gold for immediate delivery was seen trading at $1749.26 an ounce at 12.00 noon Singapore time while US gold was seen at $1749.53 an ounce on the comex division of nymex.
Analysts said the precious yellow metal is likely to stay steady as as traders moved to the sidelines after the Greek deal.
They said the situation remained then same in Asian trade this morning as the euro rose to its highest level in nearly a month earlier while the dollar edged lower against a basket of currencies, supporting sentiment in dollar-priced commodities.
Gold settled lower Monday.Gold for December delivery fell $1.80, or 0.1%, to settle at $1,749.60 an ounce on the comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
In terms of the yellow metal, investors this week will also be focused on consumer confidence on Tuesday, and Thursday's GDP report.
Both will be looked to in an effort to determine whether gold's safe haven status will be necessary in the immediate future.
