Gold gains 1.6%, Silver 5% for the week
Gold and silver ended the week with 1.6 percent and 5 percent gain respectively Friday despite a strong dollar dented gold's gains on the last trading day.

Gold for February delivery dropped $3.80, or 0.2%, to settle at $1,687 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
March silver settled at $31.93 an ounce, up 0.4% for the session.
Analysts said strength in the dollar pressured the dollar-denominated commodity as the market mulled recent data from China and the U.S. for signs of investor demand.
Against the dollar, the euro was S1.3319 from $1.3378 Thursday. Against the yen, the dollar was 90.02 yen from 89.90 yen.
The British pound was $1.5865 from $1.6002 Thursday. The dollar was 0.9924 Canadian dollars from 0.9858 Canadian. The dollar was 7.7521 against the Hong Kong dollar from 7.7522 HKD.
